Enhancing IP Protection through Inter-department Collaboration

Now China is witnessing profound and complex changes in its domestic and foreign environments. It's of great significance to comprehensively enhance IP protection and elevate IP protection to the level of national strategy, and to pool the efforts of IP protection of all the sectors so as to inspire innovation vitality and build the new development pattern. The whole-chain IP protection mechanism is being built. The Supreme People's Court and the China National Intellectual Property Administration ("CNIPA”) have built the online docking mechanism of litigation and mediation with regard to IP disputes. The Supreme People's Procuratorate has created the IP Procuratorial Office. CNIPA continues to strengthen the coordination and cooperation with public security organs and customs authorities. Therefore, how will the government departments collaborate to solve the problems faced by IP owners when defending their legitimate rights, including "difficulty in collecting evidence, long litigation period, high cost and low compensation”? All the local agencies governments make their attempt in this regard as well. China's first guidance document for strengthening IP protection across provinces has been issued. What example has this official document set in promoting the regional IP protection? This session will invite the representatives from courts, procuratorate, the CNIPA , local IP offices, public security organs and enterprises to deliberate on IP protection in terms of IP examination and granting, administrative law enforcement, judicial protection, arbitration and mediation, and industry self-discipline.
