Mr. Xia has a wealth of IP experience in China and Asia both as in-house counsel and as private practitioner for around 20 years, encompassing all aspects of IP law practice with a special focus on patent, design, trademark, copyright and trade secret protection in China. Before returning to private practice in early 2019, he led Honeywell’s IP function in APAC for 11 years where he helped Honeywell obtain well-known trademark status in China and also handled numerous award-winning IP lawsuits including e.g. a landmark preliminary injunction in a patent litigation. Prior to Honeywell, Mr. Xia worked in the Hong Kong and Shanghai offices of the international law firm of Baker & McKenzie practicing Chinese IP law. Mr. Xia is widely recognized in the IP community. He was listed by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) as an “IP Expert” in the industry and information technology field. Just for the first year after his return to private practice, he has been selected on the “ALB China Client Choice”, the “IAM 300” - World's Leading IP Strategists, the A-List Top 100 Legal Elites in China, the “WTR 1000” - World’s Leading Trademark Professionals as well as the “Who’s Who Legal” – Trademark. Previously, he also received numerous recognition for his in-house position such as the MIP “Corporate IP Stars”, the Legal 500 “Corporate Counsel 100 in Asia Pacific”, the WTR “Global In-house Counsel of the Year”, the “In-house Counsel of Distinction” from Asia Lawyers and the “AP IP Individual of the Year” from the International Law Office (ILO) and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC).
