Shan Xiaoguang

Former Dean of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property of Tongji University, Vice Chairman of the China Intellectual Property Society

Mr. Shan Xiaoguang earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering, majoring in exploration geophysics, and master’s degree in philosophy, majoring in philosophy of science and technology, from Central South University, and his Ph.D. in economics and sociology (Dr.rer.pol.) from Universität der Bundeswehr München. He is a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich, Germany, and visiting scholar at the George Washington University Law School in the United States. He is a member of the 14th Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee, expert enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, and fellow of Shanghai Research Institute of Culture and History. He used to be the dean of Tongji University Law School, dean of Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, member of the Academic Degrees Committee, and chairman of the Legal Affairs Subcommittee, Tongji University. He is now the director of the Research Center of China-EU Innovation Policy and Law, a second-level professor and doctoral supervisor at the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, Tongji University. Engaged in teaching and researching the IP law for many years, Mr. Shan has presided over and undertaken more than 50 major and key projects with the support of the National Social Science Foundation, the Natural Science Foundation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and CNIPA, for which the second prize of the Soft Science Award of CNIPA and the first prize of the Higher Education Shanghai Municipal Teaching Achievement Award, among other academic awards, have been granted. More than 100 of his papers have been published at home and abroad in Chinese, English and German, and a dozen of monographs of him have been published, too. He concurrently serves as a member of the National Intellectual Property Advisory Committee, vice president of the intellectual Property Law Association of CLS, vice chairman of the 5th, 6th and 8th councils of the China Intellectual Property Society, and chairman of the 4th council of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Society.
